Discover Mixed Media - March 12th 2026
During this playful and experimental workshop you will explore a range of waterbased materials including; acrylic, ink, collage, pastels and charcoal and learn how to layer these up to create rich, organic artworks full of texture and interest.
You will create your own collage papers by guided mark-making exercises and gelli- printing. You will then layer these papers up with other selected materials onto wooden panels to create a series of striking, abstract artworks.
This mixed media workshop will help you let go of perfectionism and find the joy that can be found when various materials are combined and layered.
Experience
The workshop is ideal for both beginners and more experienced artists who are looking to combine materials in exciting new ways.
Teaching Experience
I hold a full PGCE and have been delivering workshops for over 15 years. I have been a visiting lecturer at Falmouth University and regularly teach at Tate St Ives and The St Ives School of Painting. I also have a BA arts degree and completed my MA in fine art in 2013.

Testimonials
Liked the demonstrations- lots of ideas to think about and try. Think the workshop has helped me to relax and enjoy art making. I liked the whole concept of experimenting and playing - simplified the process for me. Thorough enjoyed it and it has given me plenty to think about going forward on my art journey.
I just loved the way Laura made it seem so easy and uncomplicated - I’m hoping this will give me the freedom to try to experiment more and to just enjoy making art and being more open and expressive without worrying about the finished product.
The mix of practical work with information about materials and techniques was great. Lots of advice about possible approaches and ways of thinking about work.
