Synesthesia Project

23/06/22

I was recently selected, as one of 10 artists, for the Synethesia Project, which paired contemporary artists up with professional writers to compile an overview of their work. Synethesia was in collaboration with Plymouth University, DATEAGLE ART & Cultivator Cornwall, who worked together on the project.

I was paired with Moriah Ogunbiyi, who wrote a detailed essay on my work tilted ‘Creating Textures’.

‘Among the visual data artist Laura Menzies absorbs from her surroundings, thoughts, and feelings is light. As she watches the textures, tones & topographies in her paintings respond to the light entering her studio, Menzies finds herself immersed in her compositions as possibilities develop into ideas’.

It was fascinating to read Moriah’s reflections on my work and to get his insights into my creative practice.
