Exhibition No2 at Morgans

16/05/21

I’m thrilled and thankful to be part of a fantastic mixed exhibition at Morgans Art Gallery, that opened on May 14th and will run until June 10th. The gallery is new and only opened in April after months of careful renovations and is a beautiful space right in the heart of Falmouth.

Exhibition No2 features the work of contemporary painters, ceramicists and jewellers all whom have a connection to Cornwall. The show has been fantastically curated and is an interplay of creations spread out over several floors which provides a great viewing experience.

It feels fantastic to be exhibiting again after so long and for the paintings to be out of the studio and being seen publicly for the first time.

The paintings I have in the exhibit contain organic shapes, rich textures and gestural mark making. The fragmented compositions embrace a slightly undone and imperfect feel and contain harmonious pallets in soft hues; inspired by living a stones throw from the coastline. The paintings have been made in an intuitive and physical way by building up layers of oil, cold wax, collage and mixed media to conceal and reveal sections.

The exhibition is well worth a visit if you are in the area, but if not the whole thing can be seen online, where work can also be purchased.
